The Power of Imagination

A child’s imagination is an incredible thing. As we grow older, we try to hold onto it, but when was the last time that you were able to transform a cardboard empty box into a spaceship? Or turn the living room into the Wild Wild West, where the Sheriff is standing up against an unlawful band of bank robbers?  Unfortunately, this fades away as we get older, but for the kiddos, this imaginative play is not only fun, but also beneficial for them in so many ways! Yes, teaching your child the essentials such as math, science, and literature is incredibly important, which we do here at Child Time! But we also believe that encouraging them to follow their imaginative path is just as important!

In this blog post, we’ll discuss a few of the many benefits that come with encouraging your child to use their imagination and harness their creative abilities! If you have any questions about our Reggio inspired learning centers in the Salt Lake City area, or you are looking to enroll your child, then please don’t hesitate to contact us today!

Problem Solving

It is never too early to teach your child the importance of reading a situation and making the right decision. This includes whether or not they should share that toy that is so important to them with a friend, or if they should admit that they spilled their juice. Surprisingly, imaginative play plays a big part in this. Your kiddo is going to spend a lot of their time with friends imagining situations, and overall, this will help them to figure out how to figure out minor problems that they encounter in everyday life. Whether pretending to be a banker counting out money, or even a superhero deciding on the difference between wrong and right, they are making big decisions!

Socialization

Starting in Pre-K or Kindergarten is hard for any child, even if they already have friends in class! We know that this is a difficult situation for you as well. They have been so used to having you around, that when they are put in a group of children that they are not used to, and you’re not around, it’s a little bit scary! Totally understandable. The good news is, once they find out that they have similar interests with those in their class, they will get more comfortable with their classmates and realize that making friends is an awesome thing. Using their imagination will go a long way in helping them to make friends. After all, saving the world is a pretty great way to bond, right?

Language Skills

Storytelling is an art as old as time, and is so important in helping your child develop their language skills. Deciding which world they are on while they play underneath their fort of blankets and pillows or even what the verdict should be for the imprisoned bank robber caught on the outskirts of town, this means that their brains are functioning at a high level which, in turn, will help them after Kindergarten.

Away From the Screens

These days, it’s pretty hard to pry our kids away from their screens. Whether it is the laptop, phone, video games, tabs, etc., they are infatuated. While we know that it is nearly impossible to separate them from these devices, it is so important for you to try your best to get them outside and enjoy the wonders that come with playing in fresh air! As a parent, we sure you remember the times out in the wilderness or even on the playground, help encourage your child to follow this example! Luckily, many apps for children are very educational these days, but what is better than having them get out and explore the world around them?

Arts and Craft

Don’t worry, here at Child Time Inc., your child will be learning so much through our in-depth curriculum at our child care center in Salt Lake City, but they will also be learning how to use their minds and their untapped creativity to create incredible pieces of art! We believe whole-heartedly in the power of imagination, and arts and crafts help them to do this.

Fun!

What it all boils down to, is that we want our students to have the time of their lives while making friends, while also preparing for the future in front of them. Here at Child Time Inc., we believe that our students should be learning while also having a blast. We believe that there is an important balance between fun and education, and we make sure that your child experiences this in a fun and safe environment. The children are our future, and we believe that they need to use their imagination and wonderful powers of creativity while also learning about some of the most important pillars of creativity.

Inspired by Reggio Emilia philosophy, we believe that we are helping prepare our youth for their future. We believe that their education is of the utmost importance, and make sure that our curriculum follows that belief. But to take it even further, we believe that they should have fun while they learn. If you would like to know more or are planning on enrolling your child in one of our classes, would like to visit our classrooms, or just would like some more information, then please feel free to contact us today.
